Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Hasanzoda Gulnora Kenja made a presentation on the organization, preparation, conduct, processing, summing up and publication of the results of the population and housing census of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Hasanzoda Gulnora called the population and housing census an important state and political event, and the role of its results is important for developing strategies for national and regional programs, assessing the demographic and social situation of the population.
During the forum, guests and representatives of international organizations, including Jurazoda Kabirjon, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on Economic Affairs, Sezin Sinanolu, UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan, Rakhimova N., UN Ambassador to Tajikistan and Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Tajikistan Lyakin Florov spoke about the importance of this state-political event.
Deputy Head of the Department of Population and Housing Census of the Agency Rizoev Najmiddin spoke on the topic "Preliminary results of the population and housing census of the Republic of Tajikistan in 2020", including changes in the population of the Republic of Tajikistan in the period 1970-2020, changes in the population of the Republic of Tajikistan in urban and rural areas for 1970-2020, the difference between men and women in the period 2000-2020, the number and ratio of men and women in the regions of the republic according to the preliminary results of the 2010-2020 population and housing census, etc.
The representatives of the media asked questions about the intricacies of this event, to which the management of the Agency and the staff of the Department of Population and Housing Census gave concrete answers.
The population and housing census is the main source of information formation on the number and structure of the population, its distribution at the level of the regions of the republic, depending on the socio - economic characteristics, ethnic composition, education level of the population and other indicators of the socio - economic life of the population.
It should be noted that in accordance with the decrees of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated October 12, 2015, No. 572 "On the preparation and conduct of the population and housing census of the Republic of Tajikistan in 2020", dated September 30, 2019, No. 1356 "On the conduct of the population census and housing stock of the Republic of Tajikistan in 2020 ”and the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan dated May 19, 2009 No. 523“ On the population census ”, as well as according to the UN recommendations, from October 1 to 15, 2020, a population and housing census was carried out on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, by the decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, was designated as the responsible body for the preparation, transfer, processing, generalization and dissemination of the results of the population and housing census.
According to the preliminary results of the population and housing census, the population of the Republic of Tajikistan as of October 1, 2020 amounted to 9661.6 thousand people.
The population of the republic in comparison with the population and housing census in 2010 increased by 2,097.1 thousand people or by 27.7%, and compared to January 1, 2020 increased by 347.8 thousand people or 3.7 %.
