On June 10, 2022, the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan held a joint meeting of the Interdepartmental Statistical Council under the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Interdepartmental Working Group to improve statistical accounting.
The meeting was opened by Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the Interdepartmental Statistical Council under the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Head of the Interdepartmental Working Group on Improving Statistical Accounting (second level).
Hasanzoda G.K. and presented the agenda of the meeting, noted that in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the Interdepartmental Statistical Council under the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan”, dated June 6, 2010, No. 883, an Interdepartmental Statistical Council was established under the Agency on Statistics.
In addition, in accordance with the relevant instructions of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, respected Emomali Rahmon, in 2016 an interdepartmental working group was established to improve statistical accounting under the leadership of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, the technical level of this group was entrusted to the Director of the Agency by statistics. Over the past period, several technical and high-level meetings have been held to improve the methodology and strengthen the work.
The Interdepartmental Council on Statistics under the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan is an advisory body for coordinating activities in the field of organizing state statistical observations based on scientifically based statistical methodology. The interdepartmental working group directly carries out work on improving the methodology of statistical accounting and strengthening interdepartmental activities.
The Head of the Department of Summary Economic Analysis and International Relations of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Juraboyzoda Z.J., made a presentation of the draft Work Plan of the Council for 2022 and spoke about the planned activities responsible for their implementation, and deadlines.
On the second issue of the agenda, the Project Coordinator A. Bobizoda made a presentation on “Modernization of the National Statistical System of Tajikistan”. The presentation noted the progress of the Project and provided information on the goals, objectives and main activities of the Project, as well as on the sources of funding and components of the Project. It should be noted that the main goal of the Project is to promote the modernization of the system of state statistics to effectively support social and economic policy.
On the third issue of the agenda, Deputy Director of the Agency on Statistics Davlatzoda K. spoke about the Regulations of the Steering Committee of the project “Modernization of the National Statistical System in Tajikistan”. He noted that for the timely and effective implementation of investment and grant projects, a Steering Committee is being created in practice. The Agency, in agreement with the World Bank, developed a draft Regulation on the Steering Committee of the project "Modernization of the National Statistical System in Tajikistan" and submitted it for consideration to the members of the Council.
Head of the Department of Demographic Statistics, Employment and Social Statistics Nabizoda A. made a presentation on the basics of creating a statistical population register: the development of an electronic book of households in urban areas.
On the following issue, the Head of the Department of Summary Economic Analysis and International Relations of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Juraboyzoda Z. J., noted that every year the state statistics bodies develop a draft program of statistical work for the next year and coordinate it with the relevant ministries and departments.
After the speeches, the opinions of representatives of ministries and departments were heard.
Taking into account the speeches and discussion of the agenda items, relevant decisions were made at the joint meeting of the Interdepartmental Statistical Council under the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Interdepartmental Working Group on Improving Statistical Accounting.
