On February 15, 2023, at the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, at the official request of the World Bank Office in Tajikistan, a meeting was held between the Director of the Agency on Statistics, Mr. Nurmahmadzoda Jamshed, and the Resident Representative of the World Bank in Tajikistan, Mr. Ozan Sevimli. From the side of the World Bank, the meeting was also attended by Mr. Alisher Rajabov, economist, team leader of the project “Modernization of the National Statistics System in Tajikistan” (MNSS) for the period 2021-2026, Nasiba Saidova, Program Assistant.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Director of the Agency Mirzoyon Nodir, the MNSS project coordinator Akhroriddin Bobizoda, the head of the department of national accounts and financial statistics Nazhmiddinova Sahiba and the head of the department for registering prices, tariffs and surveying household budgets Sharipova Bunafsha.
During the meeting, the Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Nurmahmadzoda Jamshed, expressed gratitude to the World Bank for the constant assistance and support in the development of statistics in Tajikistan, the provision of methodological and technical assistance in the development of household budget survey statistics and the development of a methodology for assessing poverty, multidimensional poverty, average poverty class, as well as technical assistance on the development of software for maintaining electronic household books in jamoats and the implementation of the project "Modernization of the National Statistics System in Tajikistan" for the period 2021-2026.
Mr. Ozan Sevimli expressed satisfaction with the mutually beneficial cooperation with the Government of Tajikistan, development partners and civil society. He also expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project "Modernization of the National Statistics System in Tajikistan", noting that cooperation in the field of statistics is important, especially in the field of transition to the system of national accounts 2008, improving the household budget survey, creating a data processing center to ensure timely receipt statistical information and improving its quality and establishing a network for integrating the AS databases with various departments of the country, increasing the level of professional knowledge of statisticians, especially IT specialists, through seminars, trainings and other important issues.
