On December 17, 2021, a donor meeting was held at the «HILTON» hotel to launch the project «Modernization of the national statistics system in Tajikistan» which was attended by the leadership of the Agency on Statistics, the Main Computing Center, representatives of the World Bank, World Food UN programs, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), UNDP in Tajikistan (UNDP), World Health Organization (WHO), German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), United Nations Population Fund Tajikistan (UNFPA), Food and Agriculture Organization UN (FAO), Delegation of the European Union,. representatives of ministries and departments, heads of departments of the Agency for Statistics, specialists of the implementation group of the Project «Modernization of the National Statistical System in Tajikistan» under the Agency on Statistics.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by the Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Ms. Hasanzoda Gulnora Kenja, who in particular noted that it should be taken into account that the development of this project is entirely based on the action plan of the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics of the Republic of Tajikistan on period until 2030, which was approved by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated November 27, 2019, No. 585.
In addition, the activities of the new Project come from the orders and instructions of the Founder of Peace and Accord, the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency, respected Mr. Emomali Rahmon, Strategic plans, state and sectoral programs of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. One of the main goals of the meeting is to strengthen the coordination of our work, as well as, if possible, consider the issue of attracting additional efforts to improve statistical accounting.
This Project will be aimed at achieving the following goals: Modernization of the statistical methodology for the production of the most complete and high-quality information that ensures the achievement of strategic state goals and objectives, based on the receipt and analysis of complete, reliable, scientifically grounded official statistics on the social, economic, demographic and environmental situation of the Republic of Tajikistan in accordance with the basic requirements of monitoring the macroeconomic situation and poverty, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Then, the representative from the World Bank in the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Alisher Rajabov, spoke and noted that without accurate statistical indicators it is impossible to analyze the activities of this or that sphere. In this regard, the World Bank will closely cooperate with the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Davlatzoda - Deputy Director of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan presented a presentation: General overview of the project «Modernization of the national statistical system in Tajikistan».
Brief information about the project was presented, the main goal of the project, components and subcomponents of the Project, the main beneficiaries of the Project, where information was provided on the activities of each ministry and department included in the Project for implementation and key project activities.
Alisher Rajabov, the team leader of the project «Modernization of the national statistical system in Tajikistan», elaborated on the reform of statistics in the implementation of Tajstat projects together with the World Bank, starting from 2000 to 2018, and the achieved achievements, and gave a positive assessment of the implementation of projects. Information was provided in detail on the new challenges of the project «Modernization of the national statistical system in Tajikistan», which started in November 2021 and will last until November 2026, that is, for five years. Information was also provided on the statistical capacity index and on the new efficiency index.
Bobizoda Akhroriddin, coordinator of the project «Modernization of the National Statistics System in Tajikistan», in his presentation presented in detail information on budget expenditures during the implementation of the project, distribution of funds by components and subcomponents, the structure of the project and the project implementation group.
The discussions and debates were attended by representatives of the Agency on Statistics, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Committee on Environmental Protection, the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the World Bank, the Representative Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations Organization (FAO), the Aga Khan Development Organization, etc.
